Foundations 1

(3 x 30 minute classes)

Beginner level class series, using Level 1 exercises and teaching the foundations of Pilates. Classes are a mix of standing, kneeling and floor/mat work.

For people who are completely new to Pilates and exercise, or those who are recently post-surgery (4-6 weeks).

If you are new to Pilates or exercise, or just feeling a little vulnerable post-surgery, this is the class series for you. Ideally you should be 4 weeks post-surgery to start these classes.

What you will learn:

  • Principles of Pilates

  • Breathing exercises

  • Pelvic floor and deep core muscle activation

  • Level 1 exercises to strengthen abdominal muscles

  • Principles of core control and intra-abdominal pressure

  • Exercises for hips, glutes and shoulder stability

Equipment

  • Mat

  • Head cushions or folded towel

  • Soft Pilates ball

Foundations 1

Foundations 2

(3 x 30 minute classes)

This is a progressive beginner level class series, developing and progressing some of the exercises and movements you learned in the Foundations 1 classes.

 

You can start to challenge yourself and incorporate some ‘next level’ exercises, improving core strength and control. Classes are a mix of standing, kneeling and floor/mat work.

What you will learn:

  • Progressive exercises continuing from Level 1

  • Develop your core and abdominal strength

  • Challenge yourself with more advanced Level 2 and Level 3 moves

  • More hip and glute work 

  • Massage spiky ball exercises to release 

  • Introducing the Pilates ball

Equipment

  • Mat

  • Soft Pilates ball

  • Head cushions or folded towel

  • Spikey balls

Intermediate

(3 x 30 minute classes)

This is a progressive class developing and progressing some of the exercises and movements you learned in the Foundations 1 and 2 classes. You can start to challenge yourself and incorporate some ‘advanced’ exercises, improving core strength and control.

 

Classes are a mix of standing, kneeling and floor/mat work.

What you will learn:

  • Progressive exercises to build on what you learned in Foundations 1 and 2

  • Develop your core and abdominal strength

  • Advanced hip and glute exercises

  • Challenge yourself with more advanced moves

  • Balance and co-ordination 

  • Introduction of some Pilates equipment such as balls, magic circle and weights

Equipment

  • Mat

  • Soft Pilates ball

  • Head cushions or folded towel

  • Spikey balls

  • Hand weights – 0.5kg or 1kg balls or hand weights

  • Magic circle

Advanced

(3 x 30 minute classes)

High level advanced class series aimed at those who have progressed through the full range of classes and are generally more athletic and able to work at a higher level. These classes include high load exercises and movements and can be challenging.

 

Classes are a mix of standing, kneeling and floor/mat work and may resemble more ‘traditional’ Pilates classes.

What you will learn:

  • Progressive exercises to build on what you learned in Intermediate class

  • Develop advanced abdominal strength and endurance

  • Advanced hip and glute exercises

  • High level balance and co-ordination in standing

  • Foam rolling and other Pilates equipment

  • Sport specific exercises for runners, swimming and cyclists

Equipment

  • Mat

  • Soft Pilates ball

  • Head cushions or folded towel

  • Spikey balls

  • Hand weights – 0.5kg or 1kg balls or hand weights

  • Magic circle

  • Foam roller

  • ON DEMAND videos are done without supervision or without any pre-screening. You will be exercising on your own. Please make sure you select the right level class for your ability. It’s always better to choose an easier level and make sure you do the exercises safely and correctly.
